Thanks to recent accusations by political candidate Donald Trump that Ford was sending all of its jobs to Mexico and putting Americans out of work, we now know that the Ford Bronco as well as the Ford Ranger are coming back.
The news broke when a rep for the United Auto Workers (UAW) fired back at Trump, and confirmed in the process that the start of production on the Ford Bronco and Ranger would more than make up for Ford’s decision a few weeks ago to move Focus and C-Max productions to Mexico.
“We hate to see the products go to Mexico, but with the Ranger and the Bronco coming to Michigan Assembly that absolutely secures the future for our people a lot more than the Focus does,” said Bill Johnson, the UAW representative for Ford’s Wayne plant in Michigan.
So although Trump has nothing to do with the Bronco and Ranger, in a way, we can thank the Donald for paving the way to one of the most important announcement of the year, even if we cannot say that it was a complete surprise. Ford has been hitting at an upcoming Bronco for years now, and we all expected to see a new Ranger eventually as well.
We don’t know that much about either model at the moment, but the new Bronco is expected to be a rugged utility offered with either two or four doors, and designed to take on the Wrangler. The Ranger will slot beneath the F-150 and go head-to-head with the likes of the Toyota Tacoma, GMC Canyon, Chevrolet Colorado, and Nissan Frontier.
