Just in time for online order, the new Porsche Cayenne S Coupé breaks cover. As the in-betweener, the S will deliver enough of everything and all the styling.
We first covered the arrival of the Porsche Cayenne Coupé in late March and within moments, questions arose about this new Coupé, the principal one was why? Although some of us are not quite enthused (myself mainly) about Porsche and them giving in to a trend, we’re certain it will do well.
The base $86,400 Cayenne Coupé and $148,000 Cayenne Turbo Coupé were introduced first and for round two, Porsche has now introduced the mid-range Cayenne S Coupé. Pricing have not yet been shared for Canada, however, if we extrapolate the pricing gaps between trims in the regular Cayenne, we figure it will retail for about $100,000.
The Cayenne S will also likely be powered by the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. It will generate 434-horsepower and 405 lb.-ft. of torque. It will also feature an 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission and Active AWD. The Sport Chrono package will be standard as will sport seats and 20-inch wheels.
It’ll be interesting to see which trim turns out to be the most popular. For the Cayenne, the base version accounts for nearly ¾ of sales. The Cayenne Coupé’s higher price may move may find the Cayenne S Coupé as the favorite.
The 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupé arrives this fall.
