Is your car safe?

Safety is obviously important for any motorist. Indeed, we all want a safe vehicle, but it can sometimes be difficult to really know if the car we drive will be able to protect us in the event of an accident.

Sécurité safety

Let’s start with reassuring you, the majority if not all of the vehicles on sale today are safe. This means they have no major flaws in their design or safety like we saw on certain models from the 1970s or 1980s.

In return, there are some precautions you can take to ensure that our vehicles remain safe as long as you own it. Moreover, when buying a new car, there are multiple driving assistance technologies that will help to not only protect us when there is an accident, but also to avoid an accident.

Sometimes dubbed active safety technologies, these devices include intelligent cruise control that will keep a predetermined distance from the vehicle ahead, a warning system and collision avoidance technology that, with a beep, notify the driver when a vehicle suddenly brakes in front and even apply the brakes if the driver does not react, and a host of other systems that, overall, warn and intervene.

If our vehicle is not equipped with such technology, it does not mean it is not safe. Passive safety systems such as airbags and different reinforcements in the body structure, will be able to protect us. On the other hand, to preserve that safety, be sure to perform regular maintenance of your vehicle and most importantly, follow up with recalls when there is one.
