How to protect your engine

Your engine is the brain of your vehicle. It is by far the most important component of your car, and you should therefore take every precaution to ensure that it is protected and well-maintained. This will allow your vehicle to last longer, but more importantly you will save yourself from some expensive repairs down the road.

The first step in protecting your engine is to ensure that you get it maintained at the specified intervals. This will ensure that your oil changes are done, and your engine’s fluids are topped off. Your regular servicing will usually replace your air filter as well, and there is usually a visual inspection that occurs at the same time, ensuring that more severe problems can be identified.

Next, you want to make sure that you address any weird noises coming from your engine, as well as any sudden loss of performance. If you see oil spots on your driveway, you want to get that checked out as well, and if any warning light comes one as you driving, contact your dealership and schedule a meeting.

Also, how you drive plays a major role in protecting your engine. Keep away from the redline as much as possible, and drive a gear higher in the city when possible. Also, avoid accelerating with your foot to the floor if you can. Finally, fill up your gas tank before it gets too low in order to avoid using the fuel at the bottom of the tank where sediments and other gunk has accumulated over the years.
